Tomorrow is the full moon, but it's already lovely and full against a clear sky tonight.
In my search to find the lunar calendar, I happened upon the cool fact that this weekend is the peak of the Perseid meteor showers. Every year the Earth passes through this cloud of debris in our orbit of the Sun, and apparently tonight 1-2am is the best day/time of the year to see the resulting meteors (dust particles entering the Earth's atmosphere at high speeds).
There's little hope for me to see them, of course, because I'm too tired to stay up and because, as the article states, "It is always best to seek out dark country skies when going meteor watching." No chance of this in NYC, of course!
But I hoped perhaps someone can check them out and tell me about it? :-)
